JUNIORS - congratulations on finishing your first semester of the IB! Not only that, but you've also been working on your Uniquest assignment and Ducks in a Row - researching universities and considering what exactly would be a GOOD FIT school for you. We know that this is a stressful time for both Juniors and their parents but, rest-assured, the work you are doing now will serve you well coming into your senior year. Remember that this process will look different for each of you; some of you may choose to take a gap year; some will choose universities in the UK, some in the US, some will apply to various other countries around the world. Some of you may choose a combination of country systems to apply to. Some students will choose 10 schools to apply to (our maximum) while others will choose 5-6 well-researched schools. Please DO NOT compare yourself to anyone else - This is YOUR journey!
Post-Uniquest meeting with your counselor
Most of you have completed your uniquest assignment. If you need any help in completing this, please see your counselor as soon as possible. You should be receiving an email invitation from your counselor (if you haven't already) inviting you to meet for 45 minutes to an hour to discuss the research you have done so far, and what else you need to do to get ready for the Student-led College Conference with your counselor and parents in April/May. These meetings are being scheduled to start Feb 20th.
SOME QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER WHILE YOU DO YOUR UNIVERSITY RESEARCH
What do I want to study? Where do I want to study? Do I need to make financial considerations? What is my ideal learning environment? How important is weather to me? How important is diversity in a school's population? How important is cultural/sports/entertainment opportunities? How do my career aspirations connect to my undergraduate education?
